Today is WORLD LUNG CANCER DAY!
As many of you know, my Mom and my best friend died of lung cancer in 2016. We missed all of the signs that her on-going symptoms, could potentially be lung cancer. I am writing to all of you today so maybe if you or a loved one is experiencing the symptoms I am going to list below, could help save someones life! I wish that someone could have warned us, if we would have recognized it earlier, I would still be talking to my Mom every morning as I drove to work.
Symptoms of Lung Cancer include:
–A cough that won’t go away and gets worse with time My Mom had a cough that wouldn’t go away and we thought she had allergies!
–Constant chest pains My Mom thought she was stressed out and that’s why she had chest pains, we had a difficult family death and she continued to blame the stress of it.
–Shortness of breath, wheezing We would go for walks together and we would have to stop constantly so she could catch her breath, she was healthy other than the undiagnosed lung cancer which we would discover months later.
–Frequent lung infections like bronchitis or pneumonia
–Coughing up blood or rust colored phlegm
-Bone pains My Mom developed awful back pain. She was seeing a doctor for it and the pain was treated, we never thought it could be cancer in her bones. Her back pain increased so much over time, we became concerned taking her out in a boat because it would be too bumpy and cause her more pain.

I am celebrating WORLD LUNG CANCER DAY today because I hope, by sharing my story, I can help save someone’s life.
