Disaster Proclamation for Several Iowa Counties After Tuesday’s Storms

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for a handful of counties affected by Tuesday night’s storms including Winneshiek County. Significant damage was reported around the community of Ridgeway, according to KWWL-TV. Most of the damage appears to be from the wind.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program is available for these counties. The grant program provides up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level for a family of three. Potential applicants have 45 days to submit a claim.

The National Weather Service in LaCrosse confirmed 5 tornadoes occurred Tuesday night across parts of northeast Iowa & southeast Minnesota. The most significant was an EF-2 tornado that hit the town of Taopi, MN in Mower County.
