New Member of Lancaster Council Gets One Vote

By Doug Wagen

When the Lancaster Common Council conducts its annual Organizational Meeting on Tuesday (4/19), the council will have a new member that was elected by receiving one vote and the luck of the draw.  Mike Johansen will replace Brett Rollins, who decided to not seek re-election.

In the District-1 election Johansen and Jerry Letcher both received one, write-in vote as no candidate was listed on the official ballot.  Johansen’s name was pulled from a hat and declared the winner.

Tuesday’s Organizational Meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at the Lancaster City Hall and will include the election of the council president and the council member that will serve on the Park and Recreation Committee, the Plan Commission, the Golf Course Committee, and the “It’s A Great Day in Lancaster” Fund Advisory Committee.
