New Home Found for Abandoned Dog in Crawford County

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has identified the owner of a dog that was abandoned Monday night. A citizen found the dog Tuesday morning in a wire kennel at the intersection of County Road N and Teter Road, and contacted authorities.

With the public’s assistance, Humane Officer Christine Reynolds was able to quickly identify and confirm the person who abandoned the dog.

The sheriff’s office says that if you find yourself in a position where it is necessary to surrender an animal, the Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter is available, and their Animal Control Officer can always be contacted for assistance. Abandonment of an animal carries a fine of $500-$1,000.

The dog has been adopted and the investigation is being referred to the District Attorney’s Office for charges.
