On May 20, 2022 at 4:46 p.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary in progress and the theft of a motor vehicle at a residence in the 400 block of Williams Creek Road in rural Allamakee County.
A male identified at Michael Lee Troendle (age 26) of Fort Atkinson, Iowa entered the residence and encountered the home owner. Troendle did have a knife in his possession. Troendle then exited the residence and stole a vehicle parked at the residence. Troendle then drove the stolen vehicle to another residence in the 400 block of Williams Creek Road and attempted to enter the residence but was unsuccessful. Troendle then attempted to steal another vehicle from the residence. An Allamakee County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene and Troendle was taken into custody. Troendle was then transported to the Allamakee County Jail and booked into jail. No one was injured in the incidents.
During the course of the investigation it was discovered that prior to this first incident, Troendle had stolen a motor vehicle from a business in Waukon Iowa and had driven that vehicle to the residence on Williams Creek Road.
Michael Troendle was charged with one count of Theft 1st Degree, one county Burglary 2nd Degree and two counts Theft 2nd Degree. Troendle is held on a thirty thousand dollar ($30,000.00) cash bond.
Assisting at the scene was the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office and Postville Police Department. This incident remains under investigation.
