One of the most anticipated summer traditions gets underway in Prairie du Chein tonight – Concerts on the River. It’s a summer concert series featuring local and regional musicians from all over Southwest Wisconsin and Northeast Iowa. Prairie du Chien Parks and Rec Director Mike Ulrich says the series starts with a local favorite – “Nice Guys and a Dirty Mind”-
JUNE 9: NICE GUYS AND A DIRTY MIND – Join one of the area’s top acoustic and electric bands as they bring your favorite Rock & Country Music from Neil Diamond, the Police, and Pure Prairie League to name a few.
JUNE 16: MATT KISSANE – Welcome America’s TOP Chris Farley impersonator who was interviewed for the A&E Biography Chris Farley Anything For A Laugh! Visits by Matt Foley, Bill Swirski, and the Blues Brothers characters as well as hanging out with the audience thereafter in this fun -filled night “Down by the River.”
JUNE 23: 16 STRINGS AND A STICK – Crisse is back with her fiddle and Mark “Tunes” Glassbrenner with his guitar and they will get your toes tapping and your hands clapping playing a mix of Country, Celtic, Bluegrass and Gospel!
JUNE 30: BIG BLUE SKY – Their musical style includes the influence of folk, bluegrass, blues, and reggae. This 4-piece bands musical writing comes from the inspiration of wild places and a celebration of our natural heritage.
JULY 7: DYLAN HARRIS AND THE TRAVELING BAND – This new local group brings a variety of heartfelt, lyrical Americana songs of classic country, obscure rock, and folk blues.
JULY 14: HIGH MILEAGE – The special appearance from this 5-piece Viroqua band will bring high energy classic rock music from the 70s, 80s and 90s which are instantly recognized and will engage you to jump up and dance to this top notch performance.
JULY 21: FATHER PLACID BAND – Join local legend Mike McAbee and awesome fiddle player Nori Hadley as they provide a night of harmonized traditional Honky-tonk Country and Irish
JULY 28: GHOST TOWN BLUES BAND – This 6-piece band from Memphis will be held at the Bluesfest grounds and free to the public from 6:30-10:30pm. They bring award winning blues and rock horns, harmonies and homegrown instruments combined with high energy.
AUG. 4: GUTTENBERG GERMAN BAND – The area’s largest and best authentic German Band will be on hand to play all of your favorites with plenty of polka music to go around.
AUG. 11: CHALLENGER REFUELED! – Featuring all members of the original Challenger band, reuniting one night only. Sure to be a night of surprises with Classic Rock, Classic Challenger
AUG 18: KARAOKE PROVIDED BY NICK & NATE GILBERTS – We save the best concert for last and invite all area top singers to share a fun night of “Prairie du Chien’s Got Talent.”
