No Injuries in Train vs Car Collision

The Prairie du Chien Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle on the railroad tracks near the Webster Street Railroad Crossing.  The incident happened around 11:00 Saturday evening.

Police Chief Kyle Teynor says responding officers found that a passenger vehicle had been struck by an Eastbound BNSF train.  The driver of the vehicle, 16 year old Trey Frieden of Elgin Iowa, and several other juvenile occupants were able to get out of the vehicle prior to it being struck.  No injuries were reported.

Crossings were blocked from Blackhawk Avenue to Mooney Street for several hours while BNSF rotated out their train crews.  BNSF Police were notified of the crash and will conclude the investigation.

The police department was assisted on scene by the Prairie du Chien Fire Department and Milo’s Towing.
