On November 9, 2022 at approximately 8:42am the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle on fire on Hwy 35/11 at the intersection of the Hwy 35 and Hwy 11 turnoff located in the Township of Jamestown. Jeffery Lolwing, age 47 from Dubuque, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 11 in his 2004 Ford F150 when he noticed a large amount of smoke rolling out the back of his truck as he traveled. Lolwing stopped on Hwy 11 in the left turning lane for Badger Rd to inspect. Lolwing noticed flames from under the hood of his truck and attempted to put them out with a fire extinguisher he had in the truck, after calling 911. The truck became fully engulfed and was a total loss. Lolwing was not injured in the fire. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the
Menominee-Dunleith Fire Department and the East Dubuque Fire Department as Jamestown Fire was in Dickeyville at the time assisting with an active structure fire. Guys Truck and Tractor removed the vehicle from the scene. Eastbound Hwy 11 was closed for approximately 45 minutes due to the fire.
On November 12, 2022 at 6:28 AM the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a one vehicle crash into a fence that occurred the night before at about 8:00 PM on S. Ridge Rd, Mt. Hope Township, WI. The investigating deputy learned that Christopher Udelhoven, 30, of rural Lancaster, WI was driving his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt going east on S. Ridge Rd just west of Pleasant Valley Rd when multiple deer entered the road surface. He swerved to his left to avoid hitting the deer and left the road on the north side. He was unable to correct this and ended up striking a fence owned by Jerry Klein. This caused disabling damage to the car which was towed from the scene. Udelhoven was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured in the crash. Arrow Towing of Lancaster assisted at the scene.
On November 12, 2022 at 1:40 PM the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a one vehicle crash into a fence that occurred on Rogers Rd just off of Hwy 61, North Lancaster Township, WI. The investigating deputy learned that a 16 year old from rural Fennimore, WI was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu going south on Hwy 61 and was going to turn to go west on Rogers Rd. She said that there had been another vehicle following her closely and she was afraid to slow down, concerned that the other car would rear-end her vehicle. When she went to turn on Rogers Rd, she was going too fast to safely negotiate the turn and she left the road on the south side of Rogers Rd just off of Hwy 61. There was no damage to her vehicle but she reported a possible injury and was transported by EMS to Grant Regional Health Center for evaluation. The other vehicle was not identified.
