Wisconsin Regionals:
Prairie du Chien took the top sport at the Richland Center Super Regional, scoring 274 team points. The Hawks edged second-place Lodi by just 8 and a half points. Those two teams will compete in the team sectionals Tuesday night at Lodi. Prairie du Chien will send 10 wrestlers to Saturday’s sectionals at Wisconsin Dells. River Valley will send 6 wrestlers, and Dodgeville will send 4.
Fennimore ran away with the team scoring at the Mineral Point Regional, scoring 322 points. Iowa-Grant/Highland came in second with 236. Those two teams will advance to team sectionals Tuesday night at Cashton. Fennimore also moves 13 wrestlers on to sectionals Saturday at Richland Center. Iowa-Grant/Highland advanced 9 wrestlers, Riverdale 7, Lancaster 3, and Jaren Grimsled will represent North Crawford /Seneca at 106 after a 4th place finish.
Iowa State Tournament Qualifiers:
MFL Mar-Mac hosted Class 1A District 6 wrestling on Saturday with the top two wrestlers in each weight division qualifying for state. MFL/Mar-Mac qualifiers include Holden Mathis @ 132, Karter Decker @ 145, Quinn McGeough @ 160, and Taylor Herzmann @ 220. The Bulldogs also finished 2nd in team scoring. Other qualifiers from the MFL Mar-Mac District include Eric Flores of Clayton Ridge @ 106; and Braxton Borman of Central @ 120.
At the 2A District in Decorah Waukon qualified three wrestlers – Jakon Regan at 126, Corbyn Palmer @ 195, and Isaac Erikson @ 285. Qualifying for Decorah – Will Larson @ 120, Mason Avila @ 126, and Brady Stille at 145.
The Iowa High School Boys State Tournament starts Wednesday in Dec Moines.
