Ultra-lite Aircraft Crashes into Field Friday Evening

A Gays Mills man received serious injuries when the aircraft he was operating crashed Friday evening.  The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says 75 year old Gary Tainter was operating an ultra-lite aircraft near his residence off O’Neil Road in Utica Township and crashed into a pasture field area. Tainter sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene.  The cause of the crash is unknown. The FAA has been notified of the crash.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Ocooch Mountain Rescue, Gays Mills Fire Department, Seneca Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Gundersen Air.
