On Sunday, July 20th, 2025, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit (Diego) initiated a traffic stop on US HWY 18 in the Township of Bridgeport. During the stop, K9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jennifer Kassinger (40) of Elkader, Iowa, and her passenger was identified as Billy Bahls (49) of Elkader, Iowa. Kassinger and Bahls were arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also, a child was present in the vehicle. The child was safely removed with the assistance of Crawford County Department of Health and Human Services. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
