Guttenberg Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Traffic Stop

On August 24th, 2025, at approximately 6:29 p.m., a Garnavillo Police Officer observed a male subject operating a motor vehicle who the officer knew to have a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was made on Monroe and Niagara Street in Garnavillo for this, and additionally for the operator failing to wear a seatbelt.

Upon making contact with the driver, the officer observed the odor of marijuana and conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle, as well as a loaded rifle which was within reach of the driver. A pat search incident to arrest of the driver yielded a glass pipe used to ingest methamphetamine which was located in his pocket. Dillon Fischer, 21, of Guttenberg, was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Ineligible, and Driving While Suspended. The Garnavillo Police Department was assisted during the traffic stop by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Postville Police Department K9 Unit, and Bud’s Towing.
