On October 3rd, 2025, at approximately 8:11 PM, the Clayton County Communication Center received a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 13 near Delta Ave. in rural Strawberry Point. Upon arrival, it was determined a 2009 Ford Escape operated by James Vorwald (70) of Epworth was northbound on Hwy 13 near Delta Ave when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Vorwald left the roadway and struck a tree on Delta Ave. Vorwald was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office on scene was Strawberry Point Police Department, Clayton County Conservation, Strawberry Point Fire, Strawberry Point Ambulance, Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Edgewood Auto and Tire, and Leonard-Muller Funeral Home.
