Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Peoria Woman in Garnavillo

On October 10th, 2025, at approximately 11:49 p.m., a Garnavillo police officer was conducting stationary radar patrol on the northern city limits of Garnavillo. A vehicle was observed travelling southbound on Highway 52 entering the northern city limits at a high rate of speed (72 in a posted 45 zone, and then 63 in a posted 30 mph zone). A traffic stop was conducted on Main Street at Watson Street. Upon making contact with the driver, an odor of marijuana was observed by the officer. A probable cause search was conducted which yielded approximately one gram of marijuana. As a result, Christina Williams (35) of Peoria, Illinois, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense and Speeding. The Garnavillo Police Department was assisted on the traffic stop by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
