Two people were injured in an accident Friday around noon in Grant County after a driver fell asleep at the wheel. 58 year old Lori Williams of Huston, Minnesota was traveling westbound on County Road U in Beetown Township when she fell asleep and drifted across the center line. Her vehicle struck an eastbound pickup being driven by 48 year old Todd Kerkenbush of Dubuque. The Williams car landed in the north ditch. The pickup went into the south ditch and started on fire. Kerkenbush was able to free himself before it was fully engulfed. Both Kerkenbush and Williams sustained severe injuries and were taken to Grant Regional Health Center. Williams was cited for Inattentive Driving.
