Today is Vietnam War Veteran’s Day, marking the day 50 years ago that the U.S. withdrew from the Vietnam War. An organization called “Midwest Veterans of America” will be commemorating the day in Waukon with a special event. Waukon resident Jerry Halverson started the organization with a few friends about 10 years ago to help veterans.
Today, the group is hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Soup Supper at the Farm Bureau Building in Waukon from 3:00pm until 6:30pm.
Halverson says everyone is welcome, especially widows of veterans.
