Athlete of the Week

1. Jacob Payne (Seneca High School) Jacob and the Royals went 4-0 last week and all 4 games were conference victories. In the first game of the week, Jacob was 1-3 with a walk as the Royals beat De Soto 6-3. The next night against Weston Jacob was 1-3 with an RBI helping the Royals win 3-1. On Thursday Jacob was the winning pitcher when the Royals defeated North Crawford. He pitched 6 innings and struck out 10 batters. At the plate, he was 2-4 with 3 RBI. The Royals finished their perfect week with a 15-0 win over Kickapoo. Jacob went 1-3 with a run scored and 3 RBI.

2. Wyatt Gulla (Waukon High School) Wyatt qualified for the IHSAA State Track & Field Meet
in 4 events. He qualified for the 400m with a seed time of 50.61 seconds. In the 800m with a time of 2:01.46. He also qualified as a member of the 4x400m Relay and the 4x800m Relay.

3. Scout Hall (Prairie du Chien High School) Scout helped the Hawks softball team clinch their first conference title since 1989 last week with 3 conference victories. In their first game of the week, the Hawks defeated Lancaster 7-3. Scout was 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Inside the circle she got the win giving up just 3 runs and striking out 6. On Friday the Hawks hosted Richland Center for a double-header. In the first game, the Hawks won 18-4. Scout was 2-3 with 5 RBIs, 4 of which came on a grand slam, 4 runs scored, and two walks. She also got the win inside the circle. In the second game, Scout was 3-3 with a run scored and an RBI. She pitched good again inside the circle to help the Hawks win 7-4.
