Firefighters battled a fire for four and a half hours Wednesday morning at Bennett Hardwoods in Prairie du Chien.
The fire call came in at 6:12. Firefighters had the fire under control at 10:40.
Prairie du Chien Fire Chief Harry Remz said it originally appeared that the fire was located in a silo, but they eventually discovered that the source was in duct work that lead into the silo. “Something clogged it up and it caught fire,” said Remz.
Remz said that despite the long length of the fire call, there was “relatively little damage”.
