Two men were hospitalized and traffic was temporarily diverted after a car / semi accident on Highway 27 in Utica Township.
The accident occurred Monday morning around 7:30.
Eric Tipton, age 36 of Merrill, was southbound in a semi when a northbound car driven by John Radke, age 18 of Cashton, crossed the center line and struck the side of the semi. Radke’s car slid back into the northbound lane, off the roadway, and into a ditch.
The semi, attempting to avoid the car, went off the road and into a ditch as well.
Radke was transported to Gunderson Hospital in Lacrosse. A passenger in the car, Jericho Freitag, age 17 of Westby, was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Tipton, the semi driver, reported no injuries.
Both vehicles had to be towed. The accident remains under investigation.
