Update on Fire in Millville, Iowa That Destroyed Restaurant & Bar

On Tuesday April 26, 2022 at 06:39pm the Guttenberg Fire Department was dispatched to 36835 Noble Road for smoke and possible fire inside a business and residence. The address is for Bootleggers River Tavern. Upon arrival of the first fire personnel, they advised there was smoke and fire inside the downstairs business of the two story building. All people and pets were evacuated from the upstairs residence before the fire department arrived. An initial fire attack was started, but the structure was quickly fully involved with fire. A large water shuttle system was set up and the fire was brought under control at approximately 10:00pm.

After an initial investigation, the cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.

All occupants of the residence were able to get out safely and the business was not currently open at the time, but the structure is a total loss. The Red Cross has been contacted to help the family.

The Fire Department returned this morning to extinguish some hot spots that had flared up.

The Guttenberg Fire Department was assisted by the Colesburg Fire Department, New Vienna/Luxemburg Fire Department, Holy Cross/North Buena Vista Fire Department, Elkader Fire Department, Garber Fire Department, Garnavillo Fire Department, Guttenberg Ambulance, Clayton County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol, Guttenberg Police Department and Friedlein Excavating.
