Sunday Morning Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

Two people were arrested Sunday morning by the Prairie du Chien Police K9 unit.

The department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of South Marquette Road and East Dunn Street. During the course of the traffic stop, K-9 Phoenix was utilized to conduct a free open-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle where she alerted to the source of one or more controlled substances from within the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle yielded methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and imitation of controlled substances.

The driver, 33 year old Rebekka Ames, of DeSoto, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia, and Imitation of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Felony Bail Jumping, and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of a Restricted Controlled Substance.

The passenger, 43 year old Robert Ahlert, of Holmen, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.

Both Ames and Ahlert were transported to the Crawford County Jail.

The investigation is on going and further charges are possible.
