The Grant County Sheriff’s Department investigated several accidents in the past week. On Monday, June 13th a Benton man lost control of his motorcycle when a deer came into his path. 37 year old Nathan Brown was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
A vehicle driving north on Borah Road in North Lancaster Township, failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection of Borah Road and Scenic Road sometime between 10pm on June 15th and 6am on June 16th. The involved vehicle drove through the ditch and struck a gate, belonging to John Schindler of rural Lancaster. The vehicle involved backed out of the pasture and fled the scene without notifying the Mr. Schindler or law enforcement. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
A large plastic container fell off a southbound trailer causing an accident June 16th on Highway 80 near Lone Road in the Township of Smelser. A vehicle driven by 58 year old Mildred Kaiser of Cuba City was also traveling south and hit the container. That sent the container into the path of a truck driven by 22 year Benjamin Busch of Bellevue, who also hit it, sending the container into the ditch. The driver of the vehicle hauling the trailer, 37 year old Justin Redfearn of Hazel Green was cited for Failure to Properly Secure a load. No one was injured in the accident.
One person was taken to the hospital following a one-vehicle accident early Sunday on County Trunk C near Markley Hollow in Wyalusing. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says 23 year old Mikayla Weber of Robinson, Texas, was westbound on County Trunk C when she swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. Weber lost control of her vehicle and entered the south ditch where the vehicle struck a culvert and sustained heavy front end damage. Weber and her two passengers, 27 year old Vincent Weber of Robinson, TX and 24 year old Nicholas Weber of Bagley sustained minor injuries. Vincent Weber was cited for having an open intoxicant. Mikayla and Vincent were treated at the scene while Nicholas was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien
