Fayette County Incidents

On May 10th 2025, at approximately 11:45PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and West Union Police Department executed a search warrant at 118 E Elm St. Apt 204 West Union IA.  During a search methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia were found and seized.  Randy Gene Johnson, 64 of West Union, and Karissa Lynn Kammerer, 42 of Winona MN, were both arrested on drug related charges.   Johnson and Kammerer were both charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a class B Felony, Failure to Affix a Drug Stamp, a class D Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, serious misdemeanors, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.  This is the 2nd time in 1 week span Johnson and Kammerer have been arrested and charged with drug violations.

On May 9th, 2025, at approximately 2:50 pm a Fayette County Deputy made a traffic stop in the All Stop parking lot in the city of West Union. During the traffic stop a K-9 was deployed by the West Union Police Department. Multiple grams of marijuana and marijuana products were located including methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The driver Steven Gerald Fields Jr. age 33, of Clermont and the passenger Megan Danielle Durnan, age 31 of Clermont were both arrested and charged.

Fields is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, Possession of a controlled substance Cannabidiol 1st offense, No driver’s license, and Interference with Official acts.  Durnan is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, Possession of a controlled substance Cannabidiol 1st offense, and Interference with Official acts.

On May 10th, 2025, at approximately 7:40pm a Fayette County Deputy made a traffic stop on 240th St. near Harding Rd. during the traffic stop it was learned that the driver Christopher Thomas Wolfe, age 51 of Cedar Falls was operating while intoxicated. Wolfe was arrested and is being charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, Littering upon a highway, and Open container. Wolfe was held at the Fayette County Jail until his initial appearance.

On May 11th, 2025, at approximately 10:50PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a personal injury accident near the intersection of E Avenue and Hwy 3 Aurora IA.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies and Iowa State Patrol responded, and it was found through the investigation process, that Olivia Balk, 19 of Wadena IA, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 3 when she lost control of her vehicle.  Balk sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy One, Oelwein IA.  Balk was cited for Texting While Driving, and the damage to the 2007 Chevy Impala was considered a total loss.   Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Arlington Ambulance and first responders.

On May 9, 2025, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Perry Phillip Gaede, age 66 of Hawkeye, on a valid Fayette County warrant for Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree (D Felony), False Imprisonment (Serious Misdemeanor), 3 Counts of Harassment 3rd degree (Simple Misdemeanors) and Assault (Simple Misdemeanor). Gaede was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held on a $11,000 cash only bond and awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.
