On September 30, 2025 at 10:39 am, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a hillside had slid down into a house and a male resident was unable to be located.
First Responders responded to the 1100 block of Red Oak Road in rural Allamakee County. Upon arrival, first responders located a 76-year-old male inside the residence who had been struck by a large rock. It was determined that numerous rocks had rolled down the hill from an adjacent property. A large rock had crashed through the back wall of the residence striking and fatally injuring the victim. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the victim is withheld pending notification of family.
Assisting at the scene was the Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue, Lansing Police Department, Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Allamakee County Emergency Management and the
Allamakee County Medical Examiner.
The incident remains under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office.
