TWO VEHICLE CRASH WITH INJURES
On October 18, 2025, at approximately 8:23 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of
Hwy 18 and CTY F, in Fennimore Township. Grant County Deputies, along with emergency crews from Fennimore Fire and EMS, and the Fennimore Police Department responded to the scene.
During the investigation, it was determined that John Haas, 41, of Potosi, was driving his 2003 Ford F-150 north on CTY F, in the Town of Fennimore, as he approached the intersection with Hwy 18. Mr. Haas failed to stop at the stop sign on CTY F at Hwy 18, and continued into the intersection. At the same time, a 2010 Dodge Ram being driven by Kevin Meegan, 28, of Poplar Grove IL., was driving west on Hwy 18. Meegan’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Haas’ F-150, causing heavy damage to both vehicles as they came to rest in the north ditch.
Fennimore EMS treated both parties at the scene and Mr. Meegan was transported to the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for treatment of his injuries. Mr. Haas was taken by private vehicle to a care provider. Heavy fog is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash.
Both trucks had to be removed from the scene by Doan’s towing out of Fennimore and Haase’s Towing of Montfort. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and Mr. Haas was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
OWI ARREST
On October 18, 2025, The Grant County Communications Center was notified of a single vehicle crash on HWY 129, near the intersection with City Limits Rd., in the Town of North Lancaster. Upon arrival the Deputy learned the lone male occupant had fled into a corn field. With the assistance of the Lancaster Police Department, and Grant County Emergency Management and their drone, the male occupant was located in the standing corn. The driver, Dillon Potts (31, Lancaster) was arrested for Operating while under the influence 2nd offense. Potts was transported to the Grant Regional Health Center by Lancaster EMS for medical attention, and then later booked into the Grant County Jail.
The Grant County Sheriffs Office was assisted at the scene by the Lancaster Police Department, Grant County Emergency Management,
Lancaster EMS, and Arrow Towing.
OWI ARREST
On 10/19/25, at approximately 8:21 p.m., the Grant County Communications Center received a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle that was
all over the road and almost struck an oncoming vehicle head on. A Grant County Deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, on Hwy 35 near Porter’s Bridge, in the Town of Beetown.
After an impaired driving investigation, Timothy Mumm, 61, of Cassville, was placed under arrest for OWI 2nd offense. Mumm was also cited for operating while revoked and operating left of center. Mumm was later released to a responsible party.
