Lancaster Man is Grant County’s Fifth Vehicle Fatality of the Year

A Lancaster man was killed in a collision that happened in Grant County just before noon on Thursday. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says a van driven by 20 year old Mason Kramer of Prairie du Chien was traveling west on Highway 18 in Wingville Township. Kramer turned onto Bethel Road in front of an eastbound semi being driven by 56 year old Timothy Richards of Madison. The van struck the semi in the eastbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest in a cornfield on the south side of Hwy 18. Both Richards and Kramer were treated by EMS at the scene. A passenger in the van, 34 year old Emmanuel Garcia Ortiz of Lancaster was killed in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. This is the 5th fatal crash in Grant County in 2022.

A two-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday morning on Highway 35 and 61 near Buena Vista Lane in Potosi Township. The Grant County Sheriff’s office says 69 year old David Kedley of Potosi was driving a pickup north on 35/61 when he inadvertently merged to his left into the southbound lane while looking toward the ditch. The driver’s side of his pickup collided with the driver’s side of a semi driven by 49 year old Brian Knepper of Prairie du Chien. Kedley suffered minor injuries from broken glass. Knepper was not injured. Kedley was cited for Inattentive Driving.
