Grant County Accidents

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports three traffic accidents in the new year.
A two-vehicle hit-and-run accident occurred in Muscoda. On Sunday, January 1st, 55-year-old Allen Hines of Boscobel was traveling south on State Highway 133 in the township of Muscoda with Tammy Hines as his passenger. An unknown vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed struck the rear of Hines’ vehicle. No injuries were reported and the Hines’ were able to drive away from the scene. The Grant County Deputies were unable to locate the offending vehicle. Several pieces of what appear to be chrome from a front bumper were left at the scene. The offending vehicle was described as a smaller, dark-colored pickup truck with a topper, with front-end damage. A second hit-and-run was reported in Cassville on New Year’s Day. At 7:40 the Sheriff’s office was notified of a car in the ditch in Waterloo Township. 57 year Old Randall Peacock of Cassville was driving his car at 3:30 that morning and lost control of his vehicle due to ice-covered roads and struck a mailbox and continued down the embankment onto a fence post. Peacock left the scene and walked home without contacting law enforcement.  Peacock was cited for Failure of Operator to Notify Police of an Accident and Hit and Run-Property Adjacent to the Highway.

Failure to Yield leads to a 3-car accident in Boscobel.

Tuesday just after 12:00 pm the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a crash on Highway 61 in the Boscobel township. 37-year-old Brian Bankes of Wauzeeka was driving south highway 161 while 63-year-old Seven Ringelsetter of Spring Green was driving North. Bankes took a left turn onto Wisconsin Ave in front of Ringelsetter causing Ringelsetter’s vehicle to strike Bankes’. Bankes’ vehicle spun and hit 43-year-old Jeremy Rathman of Baraboo semi-truck. Bankes’ and Ringelsetter’s vehicles received major damage and Rathman’s semi received minor damages. No injuries were reported. Bankes was cited for failure to yield right of way. Boscobel Fire, Police, and EMS assisted at the scene.
