On December 7, 2022, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person from rural Platteville, Ronald Henry, age 34.
The information below is what the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit has determined regarding the report of Ronald
Henry being missing, as well as a timeline of what has been done to date.
Ronald arrived in the Platteville area from Milwaukee on December 1st, 2023, to stay and work for a few weeks to obtain money for a sporting
event he had won tickets to.
Ronald was last seen around 3:00 am on December 5th after returning home from a social gathering. At around 7:30 am on December 5th,
Ronald was no longer at the residence. Ronald had been making plans to meet with friends in the Platteville area, so the people he was
staying with initially believed he may have followed up on these plans.
Law enforcement was notified on December 7th, after all known acquaintances were contacted, and no friends or family could make contact
with Ronald. An immediate search of the area Ronald was last known to be was conducted by multiple officers and a drone using its thermal
capabilities.
The next day, an expanded area search was conducted using a helicopter from the University of Dubuque Flight School, tracking/human
remains K9 from Richland Center PD, and Grant County Sheriff’s Office personnel.
On December 17th, the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Search Teams of Wisconsin, who provided nine personnel and seven K9s trained in
locating human remains. These were from K9 Emergency Response Teams, Wisconsin K9 SOS Search and Rescue, and
Minnesota-Wisconsin K9 Search and Rescue. During that search, nearly 300 acres of land were searched.
On January 4th, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, assisted in a case review and conducting follow-up
interviews.
On January 9th, the Wisconsin DNR conducted a second flyover of the area.
On January 14th, Search Teams of Wisconsin and with the assistance of Lancaster, Platteville, Dickeyville, Cuba City, Livingston, and
Montfort Fire Departments, searched nearly 2,500 additional acres of land.
The dates mentioned above are not all-inclusive of our investigation. In addition to those significant events, we have conducted several other
area/drone/K9 searches, conducted nearly 50 interviews, obtained and reviewed hours of surveillance and security videos, executed multiple
search warrants, and obtained several cell phone extractions.
