Weekend Sports Round Up

Wrestling
Rhett Koenig of Prairie du Chien takes the top headline of the weekend winning his 4th individual state wrestling title. Koening took the Division 2 138-pound title with a 7-6 victory over Brody Hart of Winneconne.  Other medal winners for Prairie du Chien include Luke Kramer 4th at 152; Jeremiah Avery 5th at 160; Brogan Brewer 5th at 170. Brewer also scored his 100th win during the tournament; and Blake Thiry 4th at 195.

Dodgeville went 3 for 3 on the weekend as Haakon Peterson took the 106-pound title; Charlie Meudt won the 113-pound title; and Reid Spurley is the 120-pound champion.

Richland Center’s Ethan Hady placed 6th

For River Valley – 132 Noah Radtke placed 6th, and 145 Landon Radtke placed 3rd

For Fennimore – 113 Brett Birchman placed 1st; 120 Amryn Nutter placed 3rd; 132 Ian Crapp placed 2nd; 145 Syler Zdanczewicz placed 3rd; 160 Tristan Steldt placed 1st; 285 Evan Gratz placed 1st;  Rachel Schauer (Fennimore Girls) placed 2nd at 165 after losing by fall in the championship match.

For Iowa-Grant/Highland – 126 Hunter Stevens placed 5th;  138 Caden Lindner placed 6th;  152 Jaxon Busse placed 4th;  195
Bode Brokopp placed 6th

For Riverdale – 113 Brody Miess placed 5th; 152 Ashton Miess placed 2nd after losing to Tate Flege of Aquinas 8-3 in the finals.

Girls 145 Chloe LaRue of Cuba City/Benton/SW placed 2nd, losing in the title match 13-9

Belmont/Platteville – 285 Porter Mandurano placed 2nd after losing by fall in the finals.

Gymnastics
PDC/Fennimore State Qualifiers: Madilyn Fisher and Alyssa Schoepp.  At Sectionals Friday at Platteville, Fisher took first in the Vault and Floor; 3rd place beam, and 3rd All around. Schoepp took 5th on the beam.

Basketball
Friday night PDC Girls defeated Dodgeville 47-32, then turned around Saturday night to beat Columbus 54-38 to win the regional title. Next up the Hawks will play Platteville Thursday at Lancaster in the first round of Sectionals.

Belmont defeated Wauzeka-Steuben 47-40 Saturday to win their regional and will now face Kickapoo at Richland Center in a Sectional match on Thursday.  Kickapoo beat Ithaca 59-37 on Saturday.

The MFL MarMac Boys are headed to State with a 57-48 will over Lake Mills in Charles City Saturday night. The Bulldogs will face Pella Christian in the opening round of the 2A tournament next week.
