Grant Co. Sheriff’s Office Responds to Pair of Hit and Run Accidents

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department investigated two separate hit-and-run accidents Saturday morning. The first accident happened on County B near Harrison North Road. 31 year old Kristen Adams of Bloomington, was traveling West bound on County B at around 3:00 am. Adams told deputies that she fell asleep behind the wheel and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck a fence before coming to a rest on a culvert. Adams later called for a ride from the scene and did not notify law enforcement of the crash. The vehicle received heavy damage and Adams was wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured in the crash. Adams was cited for Failure to Notify Police of an Accident and Hit and Run Property Adjacent to Highway.

Later that morning the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle crash on County P approximately one mile North of County A. Deputies arrived on scene to find a vehicle unoccupied in a creek bed. It appeared the vehicle had been going North on County P when it entered the ditch on the West side. The car traveled down a steep embankment before coming to rest in the creek. The vehicle was abandoned and the driver is unknown at this time. The vehicle received heavy damage and was towed. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
