Governor Evers recently signed a $12.5 million contract to reconstruct US 61 between Hickory Lane in Dickeyville and Alona Lane in Lancaster in Grant County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 20th. H. J. & Sons is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to construct a roundabout at US 61/WIS 81 intersection to improve safety, additional improvements include adding passing lanes and intersection improvements along the project corridor. During construction, US 61 will remain open to traffic under flagging operations. Project completion is scheduled for November 2023. A public meeting will take place on Monday, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Youth and Agricultural Center. This meeting is for the public to ask questions regarding construction, schedule, and traffic impacts.
