Lynxville Man Escapes Crawford Co. Custody

On Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, Paul Germundson (26) of Lynxville, Wisconsin, was transported from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Jail to Crossing Rivers Health Emergency Room for medical attention. While leaving the hospital, Germundson escaped from custody, and entered an unlocked vehicle with the keys in it near the front entrance doors and fled in the vehicle.
After fleeing, Germundson was located at his family’s residence in the Village of Lynxville. Crawford County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement personnel attempted to apprehend Germundson, however, he rammed an unmarked squad truck, and fled in the stolen vehicle.  It was later determined that the owner of the stolen vehicle was not involved or aided in the escape of Germundson.
Later, law enforcement personnel with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and Prairie du Chien Police Department located the unoccupied stolen vehicle crashed into a wooded area in the Village of Stoddard, Wisconsin. Law enforcement personnel searched the area, however, were unable to locate Germundson.  Later, law enforcement personnel with the La Crosse Police Department located and apprehended Germundson at a hotel in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This case remains under investigation.
