Grant County Incidents

On 8/8/23 at approximately 5:16 pm the Grant County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a two vehicle crash on HWY 35/61 just north of Lone Elm Tree Rd in the town of Potosi. Cole Johns, age 17, of Dickeyville was southbound on HWY 35/61 in his 2009 Kia Borrego when he looked down at his phone to silence a call. Johns was in a construction zone with a flagger who had stopped southbound traffic. Johns did not see that traffic had stopped and he struck the rear of a 2022 Dodge Durango being driven by Karri Schauff, age 39, of Cassville. Schauff and her three passengers were all wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash. Johns was also wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash. Both vehicles sustained functional damage and the drivers were able to drive the vehicles away from the scene of the crash. Johns was cited for Inattentive Driving.

On August 11, 2023, at 9:10 A.M., a Grant County Deputy was stopped along Cth K in North Lancaster Township when a 2000 Ford Explorer drove by the deputy. The deputy recognized the driver as Joshua McGraw, 44 of Fennimore. A driver’s license check was conducted through Wisconsin Department of Transportation, which showed Mr. McGraw’s driving status is revoked and he has 15 prior revocation convictions. Mr. McGraw stopped and was arrested for Operating after Revocation (16th offense), Fail to Install Ignition Interlock, and No Insurance. This matter will be referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s Office.
