On August 18th at approximately 9:29am, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway U and Brouillard Hill Road in Potosi Township. After investigation, it was found that Michael Steffel, age 55 of Lancaster, was operating his 2004 Honda Civic westbound on Brouillard Hill Road. Steffel was stopped at the stop sign at Brouillard Hill Road and County U and was going to make a left turn onto County U. Tanner Allbee, age 17 of Orfordville, WI, was operating his 2003 Ford F-350 northbound on County U. Steffel looked, but did not see Allbee’s vehicle approaching. Steffel entered the intersection and into the path of the Ford truck. The Civic and F350 had a front-end collision in the northbound lane of County U. The F350 then left the road on the west side and entered the ditch where it struck some trees and a fence and came to a rest. The Honda Civic came to a rest in the roadway. Both vehicles received disabling damage and were towed. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts. Allbee and his passenger were uninjured. Steffel was evaluated and released on scene by EMS for apparent minor injuries. Steffel was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign. Arrow Towing and Potosi Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
