On August 30, 2023 at 6:49 p.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office E911 Center received a report of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on State Highway 76 west of the intersection of Sand Hill Road in Allamakee County. A pick-up truck and trailer owned by River City Paving a Division of Mathy Construction was traveling northbound on State Highway 76 and attempted to make a U-turn to go southbound. A motorcycle driven by Kerry Gene Nuehring (age 60) of Waukon, Iowa was traveling northbound and struck the side of the trailer, ejecting Nuehring from the motorcycle. Nuehring was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver and a passenger of the pick-up truck were uninjured. Assisting at the scene was the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Waukon Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service, Waukon Fire Department, Allamakee County Emergency Management and Danny Mac’s Towing. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
