On September 5, 2023 at 3:39 p.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a
one vehicle motorcycle accident north of the intersection of Great River Road and Sunny View
Drive in Allamakee County.
The driver of the motorcycle, Edith Jo Slifka (age 49 years) of Cresco, Iowa was traveling
northbound on Great River Road and was attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway.
The motorcycle entered onto the shoulder of the road and into the ditch, striking large rocks
located in the ditch.
Edith Slifka died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Assisting at the scene was the Lansing Ambulance Service, Lansing Fire Department, Allamakee
County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Gunderson Air Ambulance.
