Two Injured in Crash in Allamakee County

On February 26, 2024 at 8:56 am, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 transfer call from the Clayton County Sheriff 911 Dispatch Center reporting a two vehicle collision that occurred on County Road X26 near the intersection of Smithfield Drive in Allamakee County.
A passenger car traveling southbound crossed the centerline and struck a northbound truck towing a boat.

The driver of the the passenger car was transported from the scene by Gunderson Air Ambulance to a La Crosse, Wisconsin hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash. The driver of the truck was transported to Veterans Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash and later released.

The names of the persons involved in the accident will be released through the accident report by the Iowa State Patrol at a later time.

Assisting at the scene was the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Monona Fire and Ambulance Service, Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Danny Mac’s Towing.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
