Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest in Crawford County

On Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Township of Seneca. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Kyle Vanderbilt (37) of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. A search ensued, resulting in the discovery of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

Vanderbilt was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, operating after revocation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, felony bail jumping, and violation of probation.

After the traffic stop, law enforcement personnel conducted a search of Vanderbilt’s residence on Sand Burr Lane in the Township of Bridgeport for illegal narcotics under Wisconsin ACT 79, as he’s actively on probation for drug-related charges.

While searching the residence, a substantial amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana was discovered, resulting in additional charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
