On September 2, 2022, The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overturned vehicle located down a steep embankment on Wheatville Road, Township of Scott, County of Crawford. A township worker came upon the vehicle. Boscobel Fire Department and Boscobel EMS arrived on scene and determined the vehicle was unoccupied. Fire Department members searched the area for the driver, not locating anyone.
A Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputy determined the vehicle belonged to Cole Mickelson, age 25, of Gays Mills. The deputy attempted to locate Cole for several hours before Cole contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Cole claimed he had swerved to miss a deer late last night and walked home after the crash.
Cole was cited for failure to report crash and driving too fast for conditions.
