On 8-26-23, at approximately 10:00 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s took a report of a suspicious individual on a side by side driving through a property and yelling at an individual. An investigation was conducted and individual was later located by Chickasaw County Deputies. After multiple interviews, Timothy John Pleggenkuhle, 47 of Fredericksburg, was arrested and charged with Harassment 3rd degree, a simple misdemeanor, and cited with Trespassing. Pleggenkuhle was taken into custody and transpo0rted to Fayette County Jail, where he awaited initial appearance. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office and Bremer County Sheriff’s Office.
On 8/25/23 at 8:31 pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call reporting a motorcycle accident at the intersection of 45th St and R Ave. An investigation determined that Jon Joseph Latham age 71 from Oelwein was operating a 1985 Honda 999 southbound on R Ave when a deer entered the roadway. In an attempt to avoid hitting the deer Latham lost control of the motorcycle and overturned onto the roadway. Latham was transported by Mery One Ambulance to Mery One in Oelwein then later Airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for injuries. There was an estimated $2000 damage to the motorcycle. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Oelwein Police Dept, Oelwein Fire Dept, Mery One Ambulance and B & L Auto Body.
