On February 5, 2024, the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a report of sexual abuse of a child and initiated an investigation. On February 6, 2024, the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Gerald Holthaus on 164th Street near Castalia, Iowa. Subsequently on February 8, 2024, charges were filed, and an arrest warrant was issued. Gerald Holthaus was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for 3 counts of B Felony Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree.
