On February 27, 2024 at 10:15 p.m. the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle roll over accident on Great River Road/X52 near the intersection of Sweet Ridge Drive.
A vehicle driven by Jacob Carlton Johnson (age 40) of Lansing, Iowa was traveling southbound on Great River Road/X52 and left the roadway. The vehicle entered the ditch, striking a tree and rolled over. The driver of the vehicle (single occupant) was transported by ambulance to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. The driver of the vehicle was later pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Assisting at the scene was the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue, Waterville Ambulance, and Hennessy Towing.
The accident remains under investigation by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office.
