Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest in Crawford County

On Sunday, March 24th, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck in the Village of Ferryville. The operator of the truck was Samuel Hatlan (52) of Gays Mills, and his passenger was Brenda Widner (49) of Soldiers Grove.
During the traffic stop, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the truck. A search was conducted, and methamphetamine paraphernalia was discovered. Hatlan was taken into custody and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail-jumping. Also, he will be cited for operating while suspended, non-registration of auto, no insurance, and not wearing a seatbelt.
