On April 10, 2024 the Prairie du Chien Police Department was notified by the Prairie du Chien High School that an adult student was suspected of having an ongoing sexual relationship with a juvenile student.
Officers responded to the Prairie du Chien High School and met with building principals. A Police Detective met with a victim of the offense at a different location. During the course of the investigation, it was found that Malachi Ames, age 18 of Prairie du Chien had repeated sexual contact with a juvenile female over the course of several days. These incidents took place in the City of Prairie du Chien during the month of April 2024.
Mr. Ames was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail. The police department will be referring charges of Engaging in Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault with the Same Child, Felony Bail Jumping and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Mr. Ames has since been released from the Crawford County Jail after signing a $500 signature bond.
The case remains under investigation.
