Juveniles Involved in Theft at Prairie du Chien Wal-Mart

On September 4, 2023  at approximately 7:00pm the Prairie du Chien Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Marquette Road and LaPointe Street.  The traffic stop was conducted on a red Dodge Caravan that did not have license plates visible.

During the traffic Stop Crawford County Sheriff K9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle found marijuana.  In addition, several items were located that were later found to have been recently stolen from the Prairie du Chien Wal-Mart.  The search also found ski masks and airsoft pistols with their red or orange tips removed.

The driver of the vehicle was found to be fifteen-year-old juvenile from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  Another passenger in the vehicle was found to be a thirteen-year-old juvenile from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  During the stop both the fifteen-year-old and the thirteen-year-old fled on foot.  Officers and Deputies were able to catch both suspects after a short foot pursuit.

Multiple citations were issued related to retail theft, possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana, obstruction and traffic violations.  All juveniles were released to their parents and transported back to LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
